Over/Under

They are the bets in which a score of a sporting event is predicted. Forecasts consist of predicting if the score will be above, "over", or below, "under" a certain amount.

One of the most common betting options that are usually made in football matches are known as Over/Under. Within this modality, the most common one is to bet on the number of goals that can be scored in a match, where one bets on a certain range of possibilities.

Over/Under Bets

Let's give an example of Over 2.5 goals and Under 2.5 goals. Why decimals? This is used to make clear how many goals we are betting on. That means if we bet on Over 2.5 goals, to win the bet we need to add up all the goals scored by both teams and if the result is three or more goals, we win, regardless of whether it's 1-2, 0-6 or 2-2.

Following this dynamic, it is not difficult to see how betting on Under 2.5 works; to win the bet, you would need to add up all the goals scored by both teams at the end of the match, and if the total is 2 goals or less, you have a winning bet. Typically, in highly contested matches where there is a strong possibility of relegation, people tend to bet on Under, since it is common for a team that scores to close ranks and protect the point they have earned by preventing the opposing team from scoring. However, there are an infinite number of possible outcomes that can result in a high-scoring game.

However, this type of Over/Under betting is not limited only to the number of goals. There are online betting companies that accept other types of bets, such as the number of cards, corners... These bets are also accepted in other sports, such as the number of sets in tennis, fouls or free throws made in basketball, etc.

They seem like simple bets, but here, in addition to chance, other factors come into play such as knowing the teams and players, which will serve as a small feedback on which to base our bet.

Tips for betting on the goal over/under market

When analyzing a team's trend towards the possible number of goals that will be scored, it is important to take into account the following data:

• Number of goals scored by both teams: Obvious, right? In this case, it is advisable to rely on each team's average number of goals scored in their last five matches and add them up. Depending on the number of goals obtained, we will know whether the teams are capable of exceeding the line proposed by the bookmaker or not.
• Number of goals conceded by both teams: Equally or more important than the previous one, but often overlooked by novice bettors. The defensive ability of the teams is also relevant for this betting market. It is important to note that in football, defending is easier than attacking. To obtain this information, we once again base ourselves on the average number of goals that both teams have conceded in their last five matches and add them up. This will also give Philippines an idea of the goal trend in the game.
• Key players missing from starting lineups: Each team has players who are crucial for scoring or preventing goals. The absence of a starting goalkeeper or forward can affect a game's scoring trends. Injuries or suspensions should be considered in our analysis.
