Double Chance

The double opportunity is a very interesting betting market to minimize risks, for example in our combinations. However, we can find decent odds and minimize risk by covering two of the three possible outcomes.

doble oportunidad apuestas

One of the most popular betting markets is the double chance, which covers two possible outcomes and minimizes the risk of losses, although it also reduces the odds. In a double chance bet, we bet on two of the three possible outcomes in the 1X2 market, so we have a 66.6% chance of winning, compared to 33.3% in conventional 1X2 bets. It is a very common market in football, although we also find it in sports such as handball or rugby, where a tie is possible.

Types of double result bets

All betting houses that offer the double chance include three options for betting:

  • 1X: we bet for home win or draw. Away win loses the bet.
  • X2: we bet on the away team victory or a draw. The away team victory makes Philippines lose the bet.
  • 12: we bet on the local or visitor's victory. The tie results in losing the bet.
Example
The Real Madrid-Barça Classic is a good match to bet on double chance, since the odds between both teams are usually equal. If we bet on the double chance "1X" we win the bet if Real Madrid wins or ties. On the other hand, betting on the double chance X2, we are good with Barcelona's victory or a draw. Finally, betting on a double chance "12" we need one of the teams to win in order to collect the bet, losing in case of a draw.

The odds on the double chance

double chance betting

By increasing the chances of winning the bet, the odds will decrease considerably, especially when the favorite is included. We will probably see odds below 1.20 or 1.10 if the match is very unbalanced. However, it is easy to find odds close to even (or even higher) for the underdog in matches that are initially unbalanced but where it would not be unreasonable to think that a draw could occur or even to pull off an upset and defeat the favorite.

When to use the double chance bet

When making double chance bets, it is very important to analyze the real state of each team. The name, position in the rankings, or the odds from betting houses become less important, and you have to analyze the tendencies of both teams, such as their performance at home or away, injuries and sanctions, and other factors such as whether they have played matches during the week, coming off a selection window, or having dressing room problems that could affect the team's performance.

Depending on the level of risk you want to take, you will use double chance bets more or less frequently. They are a very interesting market to minimize risks, whether you are a novice player or in combined bets. There are a number of situations where playing with double chance is interesting, as the odds are attractive and there are serious chances of winning the bet. Let's see some examples.

Double Chance Bet Examples

Example 1: Two very even teams face each other and the Bookmakers opt for the visitor.

Valencia-Atlético de Madrid. Valencia's victory is priced at $3.40, a draw at $3.30, and Atlético's triumph at $2.20. It's a highly contested match between two strong teams, although the bets favor Atlético. However, Mestalla is one of the toughest stadiums in La Liga, and the double chance of Valencia or draw (1X) is priced at $1.70, more than a decent quote. If we go for "X2", the quote is $1.33 and "12" is at $1.34.

Example 2: By name, the home team is favorite, but the visitor arrives better at the game.

Athletic-Leganés. The victory of Athletic is priced at 1.66$, the draw at 3.50$ and the triumph of Leganés at 5.75$. At first glance, the 3 points should stay at San Mamés but Athletic comes with doubts and some notable absences. On the other hand, Leganés is on a winning streak and arrives with all players available. Would it be a surprise if they at least draw? No. And the double chance "X2" draw or Leganés is priced at 2.25$. On the other hand, "1X" is priced at 1.16$ and "12" at 1.30$.

Example 3: The visitor is clearly a favourite, but they visit a difficult field and there are factors that condition the game.

Girona-Real Madrid. Girona victory is priced at $8, a draw at $5.25, and Real Madrid's triumph at $1.33. Girona is playing well at home, and Real Madrid is coming off extra time in the Copa del Rey and will rotate next week in the Champions League round of 16 against PSG. The double chance of Girona or draw is priced at $3.40, while "X2" is quoted at $1.09 and "12" at $1.18.

Example 4: Minimize risks in a combination.

Getafe-Eibar. Getafe's victory is priced at $2.05, the draw at $3.25, and Real Madrid's triumph at $3.75. Getafe plays at home where they have been winning quite easily against an Eibar team that has not won in 6 away matches. Getafe should win, but to minimize risks and not put our combo in danger against a potential draw, we can include the double chance of Getafe or draw at $1.28. The "X2" is priced at $1.80 and the "12" at $1.35.

A question if I bet on the visitor plus 2.5 means that in a live match what the visitor was losing turns him around and there are more than 2 goals, that is, he was winning home 1 to 0 and I bet he wins the visitor plus 2.5

That bet is total goals. It doesn't matter who wins and loses; goals matter. If you bet more than 2.5, you need a minimum of 3 goals in the match to win (3-0, 2-1).

In this case (visit +2.5), the away team should score at least 3 goals for the bet to win. It does not matter if the final result is 0-3, 4-4 or 6-3, as long as the visiting team scores three goals the bet will be winning.

With a result such as 1-2, 2-2 or 3-1, the bet will not be a winner, since the bet has been specifically on the goals of the visit and in none of these markers does it exceed the proposed line of 2.5 goals . It would be a bet where the goals of the local team do not matter to us.

excellent explanation, but I have a question about creating a double chance bet, what would happen if I combined 1x with 12?? or 12 with x2?? because it's obvious that you can't combine 1x with x2. I want you to remove that doubt.

Hello Ilbert, good question. However, what you propose is impossible. If you go to "Create bet" in any bookie, once the 1X double chance is selected, we are not allowed to select 12 or X2, but we have to combine the 1X with a different market.

They don't let me multiply my bet. That is, with 10 soles I won 38 soles for the draw and I asked to bet the 38 soles on a new team. They did not accept it and only allowed me to withdraw the money but did not allow me to bet again.

Hello..I would like to ask a question? What does "another local victory" mean? I placed a bet, the team won..to whom I bet. And they took away my play
I would like to know why?

I put a double chance “12” and minus 1.5 goals and if they only scored 2 goals the bet is canceled?

Hello Bruno, in your case the bet is losing because 1.5 goals have been exceeded. Remember that "Double Chance 12" means home or away win, not the number of goals to be scored. When the second part of the bet fails (-1.5 goals), it is a loser.

That bet is based on the total number of goals scored in the match. It doesn't matter who wins or loses; the goals are what matter. If you bet on over 2.5 goals, you need there to be a minimum of 3 goals in the match to win (3-0, 2-1).

Hello, I played double chance plus 1.5 and there were draws, I lost the bet if they scored more goals

In this case, it depends on the double chance you bet on. If you bet "1X and +1.5 goals" or "2X and +1.5 goals", the bet is a winner. If you bet on the double chance "12 and +1.5 goals", the bet is losing

Over 1.5 there must be a minimum of 2 goals in the match; It doesn't matter if it's a tie at 1
